KAPLA

KAPLA is a wooden construction toy brand in France founded by Dutch architect Tom van der Bruggen in 1987. During a trip to France in 1960, Tom discovered an abandoned farm and decided to build his dream castle from scratch. In order to achieve this goal, Tom attempted to use wooden cubes as building model materials but found that the cube's proportions were not ideal for precise calculations of actual architectural models. 




After 15 years of effort, Tom created a magical wooden plank and named it KAPLA, symbolizing the meaning of "gnome planks." The distinctive feature of KAPLA lies in its small wooden planks that can be used to build anything. These small planks, after 15 years of experimentation, have perfect dimensions, following the golden ratio of 1:3:15, achieving a delicate balance between size and weight, making the constructed structures more stable. 
Unlike other building blocks, KAPLA's small planks are precisely cut and require no adhesive. By simply arranging the planks on different planes, various effects can be created. 

The charm of KAPLA® not only lies in its creativity and architectural nature but has also gained recognition from educational institutions. The French Ministry of Education, Culture, and Technology recommends KAPLA as teaching material, and it has become an essential educational tool in many European schools. Similarly, KAPLA has entered schools and homes in Japan and received high praise. In Taiwan, KAPLA is widely used in teaching by many educational institutions and is loved by children and adults alike.
